Hello you!

I’ve just come in after tending my garden. As usual, my mindset has shifted for the better. My garden fills me with joy. It brings a sense of calmness that I carry into my day, my relationships, and my art.
A Month of Reflection in My Art Studio
This month in my art studio has been about diving deeper. I aim to discover the patterns and practices underlying my creative process. I am learning about my foundation and revealing layers of limiting beliefs and untruths I've always held.
To bring new light and fresh insight into my "why," I signed up for an art workshop. The workshop, Unapologetic Self-Portraits by Connie Solera, has been a wonderful experience on my art journey. It has opened my eyes to new possibilities and perspectives.
Anticipation for ArtWalk Liberty Station
While I’ve been looking inward, I’m also looking forward to ArtWalk Liberty Station. It's the first weekend in August, from the 1st to the 3rd. Friday night features a preview party hosted by ArtWalk. You can get tickets for this special evening at artwalksandiego.org.
The event will include live music, food, and drink options. You’ll get a first peek at the art in the show! ArtWalk will also take place all day Saturday from 10 AM to 6 PM and all day Sunday from 10 AM to 5 PM. I’ll be in booth 512, right by the rose garden.
There’s plenty of free parking, many places to eat, and beautiful grounds for walking. I hope you’re planning on coming! I’ve been selecting and re-selecting the paintings I’ll bring to show you.
Featured Artworks
Here are a few pieces I’m sure will make it to the event:
Works in Progress
Here are a few pieces I’m still working on:
As you can see, I’ve become interested and inspired by figures in my work. The stories emerging from these paintings are about persistence and patience. They reflect an ease with life's difficulties that grows over time. I’m learning about myself through them.
The Joy of Colorful Abstracts
I’m also bringing some colorful abstracts that always seem to delight everyone. The energy and happiness they exude are so strong. They will brighten up my booth!
Along with preparing art pieces for ArtWalk, I’ve been continuing my play and practice in ceramics at Creative Academy San Diego. I’ll have a few pieces available at my booth.
Face Vases
Here are the front and back images of two of my face vases:
A Summer of Creativity
It’s been a lovely summer of painting at my studio and occasionally at Woodward Contemporary in Old Town San Diego. I find a welcoming network of professional artists there. They inspire and encourage me.
Don't forget that I have paintings in my treasure trove available at reduced prices. I paint a lot, so I have many paintings! These pieces aren't of reduced quality, just reduced price. I’ll have a few at my booth at ArtWalk, and they’re always available on my website. You can check out my page here: Treasure Trove.
I won’t be at First Friday Open Studio on August 1st because I’ll be at the preview party for ArtWalk Liberty Station.
Hope you’re enjoying your summer and filling it with your own kind of joy.
In gratitude,
Susie
