Hello you!

Today, I want to share the creative process behind my painting, “It Was Bound To Happen.” This vibrant and colorful piece originates from an unexpected material: painted paper bags and the leftover torn edges of notebook pages. How fun is that?

The Story Behind the Art

Art always carries a story, and this one is no different. During the creation of this piece, I frequently enjoyed lunch from a local deli. Over time, I collected a pile of ordinary brown paper bags. Instead of throwing them away, I decided to paint on them. Then, I glued them onto my canvas. (Of course, I always made sure that there was never any food residue on the bags before using them!)

Another item I seem to collect is the leftover torn edges from my spiral notebooks. Some of these edges feature in this painting as well. If I incorporate them early in my process, I might paint over them. This method creates a unique texture. However, if I add them later, they remain visible, which adds visual interest.

I believe that both the bags and the paper edges appealed to me because of their ordinariness. By using these common materials, I’m reminded that inspiration can come from anywhere.

The Texture and Detail

Take a closer look at these detail pictures, and you'll see what I mean. The dots, painted on the paper bags at the bottom of the canvas, draw your attention. They gradually dissolve into colorful shapes that remind you of nature. Additionally, the notebook paper edges resemble fringe and add texture to the painting.

The flourish of white ink plays with your imagination, evoking images of a vase and a swirl of fresh air. The combination of these elements creates a dynamic feeling within the artwork.

The Journey Continues

Now that you've taken the tour, I’m thrilled to announce that this piece is available for purchase. It measures 48" x 48" and is priced at $2,300. Explore the artwork here. My art represents a form of communication—my visual language in a chaotic world. I sincerely hope that this piece inspires you.

Additional Inspirations

Art is often about exploration. In my work, I try to embrace various techniques and materials. Each piece I create provides a unique opportunity to express and convey emotions.

In addition to “It Was Bound To Happen,” my website features a Treasure Trove page. It showcases many original pieces available at reduced prices. Each artwork tells its own story, offering something special for everyone.

Final Thoughts

Art can be a journey filled with discovery. Whether exploring the use of common materials, experimenting with textures, or sharing stories through visual expressions, the creative process remains thrilling.

Thank you for reading about my journey with “It Was Bound To Happen.” Remember, inspiration is everywhere, often found in the most ordinary objects. Keep your eyes open, and you might just find a masterpiece in your everyday life.

In gratitude,

Susie
